Watari Youth Day Treatment Program
Intake Procedure:
We accept self-referrals as well as referrals from support people. If a youth is interested in attending the program we suggest that they come to meet us prior to intake by arranging an orientation time with any of our staff.
Once we have received a completed referral application the Program Manager will attempt to contact the youth to schedule an intake meeting. When intake is complete participants then meet with a counselor to work on developing a care plan (we call them change plans) prior to beginning group work.
As we have continuous intakes, when these initial meetings are completed youth may be able to start the program as soon as the next Tuesday (depending on available space).
Space at the Watari Day Program is limited to 8 participants, and access to the program is on a ‘first come first served' basis. When we have a waitlist, youth will follow the same procedures until the intake appointment is completed. At that time their name is added to the waitlist in the order that they have completed intake. While on the waitlist youth can access the support of the Transitional Outreach Workers. When a space becomes available the youth meet with a Substance Misuse Counsellor in the week prior to beginning the program to discuss how drugs and alcohol have affected their lives and to develop a plan for change.
The program hours are Tuesday to Thursday 12:30-4pm, Friday 12-4pm. Youth who have completed intake must start the program on a Tuesday.
